Town of Prescott Looking To Update Animal Control, Promotes New Staff

The Town of Prescott is looking to update its animal control Bylaw.

The motion was discussed at a council meeting earlier this week. The new bylaw would get rid of the yearly date on dog tags, give residents more options to pay for tags, and allow other types of pets to be tagged as well. The township would also have the town buy a universal chip reader for lost pets. Council hopes to discuss the bylaw further in the first council meeting in January. The town invites residents to give their feedback to their office.

The town also has promoted some key staff members. Lindsey Veltkamp has been promoted to Director of Administration and will be a key senior official in the town. Kailin Mallory will assume the position of Deputy Clerk and assist with overseeing record management, communications and election administration. Mayor Brett Todd says the promotions will strengthen the administration at town hall. The previous director of administration, Kimberly Casselman, has taken on a new role at Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Counties.
