Ontario SPCA launches Mobile Animal Wellness Services

The Ontario SPCA launched a new way to combat pet overpopulation. The Mobile Animal Wellness Services trailer is making a stop in Brockville on July 23 and 24.

The 38-foot trailer features two surgical tables where between 20 and 30 spay/neuter procedures can be performed each day. A grant from Pet Valu’s Giving Back Project made the service possible.

Daryl Vaillancourt, Chief of Humane Programs & Community Outreach, says the goal is to help the underserved population in the community. He noted the SPCA is working closely with social service agencies to reach people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to these services.

In addition to spay/neuter procedures, the mobile clinic offers wellness exams, microchipping and vaccinations for domestic cats and dogs.

Vaillancourt says it’s exactly the same as a hospital setting and carries all the same equipment. He noted the only difference is the clinic is on wheels.
