If you got a piercing with a local business earlier this year, there’s a chance you could develop an infection.
That’s from the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit.
The organization reported an “infection control notice” with a business called Piercings by Melissa in July, warning that its tools could potentially give clients infections like Hepatitis B or C.
Since then, the Health Unit has found that the business’ client list isn’t complete, so some people that are at risk of infection haven’t been notified.
If you got a piercing from Melissa Chartrand through Piercings by Melissa between February 25th and June 8th, and you haven’t received a letter from the Health Unit, they say you should contact the organization.
So far, no infections have been reported. You can call the Health Unit at 1-800-660-5853, using extension 2222.
