The Strong, Smart and Bold Summer Program in Kemptville was completely full when Girls Inc. brought it to town on July 9th to the 13th . The program will be at St. Paul’s United Church in Prescott from August 20th to 24th.
Kim Fenn is a Program Facilitator with Girls Inc. of Upper Canada and says the girls have lots of fun doing different things like looking at healthy living, internet safety and playing fun games. The youths also participate in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) activities.
Fenn adds these programs are always needed as they learn a lot about what the girls are dealing with right now.
Girls aged 6-13 can register for the summer program. The camp will also be in Gananoque on July 23rd to 27th, Athens from July 31st to August 1st and Brockville on August 13th to the 17th. These camps run from 9:00am to 4:00pm every day. Registration costs $60 for the two day program and $150 for the full week. Fenn says they don’t want financials to be a barrier when it comes to the camp so there is a no questions asked subsidy program in place.
After summer, Girls Inc. will be in schools with their Friendly PEERsuasion program.
Fenn says they only have a couple spots left for schools to sign up.
