Prescott Committee of the Whole Receives an Update on Some Town Projects

Prescott Town Hall is updating the town on some ongoing projects and expenses.

The Town’s Director of Public Works Dan Beattie was in front of the Committee of the Whole this week giving details on where first quarter Capital and Operation Projects stand. According to Beattie construction on the Fire Hall is both on schedule and under budget, with completion still estimated for this fall. Construction on the roof of the Water Treatment Plant had to be suspended due to the weather but they still think it will be finished during June.

Beattie says they have a number of projects they are finishing the planning up on right now. They have awarded the contract for the Linda Street and Linda place construction, and started the pre-construction surveys last week. He also added that the asbestos abatement contract for Town Hall is currently with the lawyers and that they are scheduling wiring work at the Marina Docks, based on the bid they received.

There are also a number of in-house projects scheduled that are waiting for improved weather. According to Beattie town staff will be working on the rubber rock at the Marina, levelling the docks and repairs to the Public Works Building over the next few months. Town Hall is also pricing a number of items including a lawnmower, garbage cans for Centennial Park, storage container and electric jack hammer.

Finally Beattie says the abatement process at the Leo will be closing on Thursday and they’ll begin working on the arena as soon as they can.
