UCDSB reschedules April PA day due to total solar eclipse

Some parents might need to change their childcare plans for the Upper Canada District School Board’s (UCDSB) professional activity day in April.

The board has announced that the day off for students has been rescheduled to April 8th.

Originally, it was planned for the 26th, but staff members say it was rescheduled to “maximize student safety” during a rare total solar eclipse happening on the 8th.

According to a letter from the board sent to parents, the eclipse is expected between 2:00 and 4:00 PM, which overlaps with school dismissal times and could pose a risk to students’ eyesight.

Like all other PA days, students won’t attend classes, but schools will remain open as teachers collaborate and work together on lesson plans and curriculum adjustments.

You can find the board’s full PA day schedule on the UCDSB website.
