Brockville General Hospital opening MRI unit this spring

South Grenville residents will have access to an important piece of medical equipment closer to home soon.

Brockville General Hospital has announced that a brand-new MRI unit will be opening this spring at the facility.

“The MRI is a non-invasive and painless way to view inside the body, and another great arsenal in your physician’s toolkit to help diagnose disease,” says Denis Arseneau, the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging at the hospital.

BGH staff say they’re taking steps to make the machine operational as quickly as possible, including using a pre-made MRI building to contain it. Project Manager Al Page calls it “the first of its kind in Ontario.”

There isn’t a firm timeline yet for when the MRI unit will open, but hospital staff say updates will be posted regularly to BGH’s social media pages.
