The South Grenville Food Bank is benefiting from a friendly competition between three local communities.
Prescott, Augusta, and Edwardsburgh-Cardinal challenged each other to see who could collect the most donations for the food bank with Augusta collecting the most for the second year in a row.
Augusta Mayor Jeff Shaver says they went door to door collecting and everyone was very supportive, including one resident who donated $1,000.
Shaver says the food bank is a vital resource for those who need it.
“If you’re shy on food or you’re in the predicament that it’s not going to be a very good Christmas come to the food bank, make sure you have food in your house.”
Shaver adds they were also helped out by firefighters from the community who helped collect the donations.
