RB Heating helps out senior on verge of homelessness

Art Soper has found a place to live. The 66-year-old was on the verge of homelessness, renting from week to week in Kemptville. Soper has been searching for a job since being laid off last year.

Soper shared his story with Coast FM earlier this week.

RB Heating & Cooling heard about Soper’s situation and decided to help out. The business reached out to him and offered a two-bedroom apartment at a reduced rate. Soper moves in January 1.

Owner Rick Buffham says it was the right thing to do. He noted Soper just needs a helping hand to get him up on his feet again. Buffham explained it’s a shame what some seniors have to live on from a financial aspect.

The apartment will carry Soper through to the beginning of April, when the building is slated to undergo renovations.

Soper says he hasn’t lost confidence that he’ll be able to land a job. He noted he’s grateful to Buffham and everyone who has reached out to him with employment suggestions.
