Rubber Rock coming to the marina in 2018

New Rubber Rock is coming to the Prescott Marina but it won’t be until 2018.

At last night’s Prescott Town Council meeting Director of Public Works and Infrastructure Dan Beattie came back with his recommendations for the installation of Rubber Rock compound at the Marina. Beattie explained the project would take ten days to complete with three employees dedicated to the job fulltime. It was his opinion that the project should be put off because of the high demand on Public Works during the summer, the added hours his staff would be working during Loyalist Days and the material needing to be installed at temperatures above 10 degrees. He also provided an estimate of how much it would cost to have an outside contractor complete the project in 2017 but the total was almost $10,000 more.

Councillor Ray Young said he had hoped that the project could be completed this year but understood the obstacles currently facing the public works. The Mayor and council agreed that the project should wait until the spring of 2018. Beattie said the project would be completed in the spring of 2018, so long as the weather permitted it.
