EWIB reports increasing median income, shrinking wage gap in Leeds-Grenville

The median income in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville is on the rise over the last few years, alongside the rest of eastern Ontario.

That’s according to the Eastern Workforce Innovation Board (EWIB), an organization that collects data about the labour market in our region.

The EWIB has put out its annual “Local Labour Market Planning” report, assessing demographic and job trends over the last few years.

That report says the median income in the Leeds-Grenville area is now $41,600 as of 2020, an increase of 21.3 percent compared to the last time it was measured in 2015.

That’s slightly higher than the provincial median income of $41,200.

The median income for local men in 2020 was 19.7 percent higher than the median female income, compared to 27 percent in 2015.

According to the report, some other positive trends the EWIB identified include “low unemployment” and “projected job growth over the next four years.”
