United Counties, Brockville to partner for supportive housing project

A new place for people who struggle to stay in housing is coming to South Grenville.

Brockville Mayor Matt Wren has announced plans to move forward with the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville on a partnership to build a new housing facility.

The old Water Pollution Control Centre administrative building on County Road 2 will be repurposed for the project.

According to the announcement, the facility will offer “supportive housing,” with programs like medication check-ins and money management assistance for residents.

United Counties Director of Community and Social Services Alison Tutak told MyPrescottNow.com last month that initiatives like this are key to making sure people don’t become homeless again a few months after finding a place to live.

According to the announcement, the City of Brockville and the United Counties plan to request funding from the Ministry of Health to help pay for the project.
