Health Unit pausing low-cost rabies clinics this fall

You might need to spend more money than usual to get your furry friends vaccinated against rabies this fall.

The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit has announced that its annual low-cost rabies vaccine clinic program is being paused for this year.

“The past few years have been challenging for our local veterinarians,” explains Communications Coordinator Susan Healey, “and we have seen a significant decrease in the number of veterinarians with the capacity to participate in a coordinated approach to these low-cost rabies vaccination clinics.”

Healey also says less residents have been using the clinics over the last few years, which led to the decision not to run them this year.

She also says veterinarians can still run their own independent low-cost clinics, and any that are announced will be promoted on the Health Unit’s website and social media pages.
