Provincial funding announced for Leeds-Grenville hospitals

MPP Steve Clark says more than $3-million is going to help prevent closures at Kemptville District Hospital (KDH) and Brockville General Hospital (BGH).

$3,435,400 is being invested in total, with $2,726,200 going to BGH and $709,200 to KDH.

Brockville General Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nick Vlacholias says the money will go towards performing important surgeries and maintaining housing programs and other initiatives that patients rely on.

Frank Vassalo, Kemptville District Hospital’s CEO, says it’ll help his team recover from some significant financial strain caused by inflation and the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Warden Nancy Peckford says the funding is crucial to the hospitals’ long-term future.

“Both the Brockville General Hospital and Kemptville District Hospital are part of the lifeblood of our communities,” says United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Warden Nancy Peckford. “They play invaluable roles in maintaining the quality of life of our residents in the region.”

The provincial government is funding both facilities as part of an $850-million investment into public hospitals all over Ontario, to help them maintain their operations.
