Leeds-Grenville Warden, mayors, and Greek community welcome Ambassador

Despite rainy weather, Konstantina Athanassiadou says the Leeds-Grenville region is one of the most beautiful places in the country.

Athanassiadou, Greece’s Ambassador to Canada, made an official visit to the United Counties Friday.

She addressed Warden Nancy Peckford and representatives from some other nearby municipalities at a flag raising ceremony in Kemptville.

“You live in one of the most beautiful places of Canada,” Athanssiadou said. “This is well known. I mean, it’s touristically well known, it’s well known in the diplomatic community back in Ottawa, et cetera. So, I’m very happy to be with you today.”

The ceremony also saw residents and business owners with Greek heritage singing the national anthem as the Greek flag was raised.

Athanassiadou thanked everyone in attendance for the warm welcome, and said she was honoured to spend the day in our community.
