South Nation Conservation cautions possible flooding along St Lawrence River

There could be flooding along the South Grenville coastline over the coming days.

South Nation Conservation has put out a Flood Outlook Statement, saying that rising water levels in Lake Ontario could cause floods at it flows out into the St. Lawrence River.

According to staff members, the risk is highest between Kingston and Iroquois, in communities like Maitland, Johnstown and Cardinal.

They say anyone living in a flood-prone area should take steps to prepare for flooding, like ensuring their sump pump is working, securing anything that could float away, and clearing any debris out of their driveway culverts.

Unless the situation changes, the Flood Outlook Statement will last until May 19th.
