Police remind public to lock cars after rash of theft

Leeds County OPP want to remind the public to lock their vehicles and put valuables out of sight. Officers are currently handling several ongoing investigations into thefts from cars. In most cases owners thought they left their vehicles locked but there are no signs of forced entry. Thieves are taking loose change, cell phones, wallets, iPods and other valuables.

Detachment Commander Inspector Jeff Smith says lock your valuables in the trunk if you can’t take them with you. Park in a well-lit area where there is plenty of pedestrian traffic. Install a vehicle alarm system and report any suspicious activity to police.
