Prescott dedicates Rotary Park pavilion to late resident and volunteer

“She did so much for the Legion, so much for the Food Bank, curling club, and it’s just such a sad, sad loss.”

That’s Mayor Brett Todd, speaking about late Prescott resident Candy Alexander, who passed away last November. The pavilion in Rotary Park was dedicated to Alexander’s memory at an award ceremony Monday night.

“I actually find it tough to even talk about it,” Todd says. “Candy was such a good friend, such a good person, and it’s hard to believe she’s not here right now.”

Alexander originally had the idea to build the pavilion in 2004, and helped create an initiative to let people purchase engraved bricks within the structure.

She also received a medal from then-MP Gord Brown and MPP Steve Clark for her work in Leeds-Grenville, alongside more than 150 other community figures, as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2017.

“She’ll be with us always,” Todd says. “This is a very small token of appreciation for all she did.”
