“Looking forward, I think that there are great days ahead for Prescott and South Grenville,” says Councillor Gauri Shankar.
Shankar announced this morning that he intends to run for mayor of Prescott in the upcoming municipal election. Shankar is the first to announce his candidacy for the election.
Shankar, who has lived and worked in Prescott for more than 30 years, says his time on council has helped him learn how to work in local government, and introduced him to other business owners and people in town.
“Connecting directly with our community is incredibly important to me,” he says. “Your mayor should be accessible to you. It’s all about relationships.”
Nominations are officially being accepted on May 2nd, the same day Shankar plans to submit his nomination papers at Town Hall.

Election day is October 24th.
