Cardinal Legion Encouraging Residents To Get Active In Support Of Local Branch

Cardinal residents are being encouraged to get active to help raise funds for the local Royal Canadian Legion.

President of Cardinal Legion Branch 105 Dwayne Crawford says they are launching their ‘Spring into Action’ initiative, which is inviting families, individuals and groups to walk, run, hike or bike, while supporting a great cause.

He says they are looking to raise around $5,000 through the initiative.

“You can do something by yourself, not in close contact with other people, but at the same time you can get out and do some type of recreation that’s not only good for you but good for your mental well-being,” Crawford said.

Participants can sign up on their own, or as a family, group, or team of up to 4 people, and are encouraged to take part in the way they feel most comfortable.

Activities can be grouped together or spaced out over the duration of the event that will run until the end of August.

Crawford says you can also do something for your mental health, like gardening.

“The reward is completing the task you’re doing, and each person registered will receive a medallion thanking them for their participation,” Crawford said.

Participants are encouraged to share photos and video clips of themselves, their team or their family group pursuing their activities on social media

All proceeds from this event will go to the Cardinal Branch and help to support the programs that it maintains.
