Job market in local area very active according to job developer

A local job developer says the local job market is currently very active.

Rod Palmer from CSE Consulting in Prescott says there’s been lots of employers calling but there doesn’t seem to be the same urgency of job seekers currently. Palmers explains it seems there is a certain reluctance from job seekers as there a lot of things in play right now when looking for a job. He adds some kids going back to school, daycare and concerns for vulnerable family members are all factors when looking for a job right now.

“Things are a little quieter now but it is gradually picking up.”

Palmer says there’s a demand right now for a lot of labour positions like construction, landscape and housing. He also says there is a demand for entry level positions and frontline workers.

“Not only in nursing homes, you know PSWs, home care aides, nurses, registered nurses and so on, but also the frontline workers at grocery outlets and retail workers.”

Palmer adds the Pathways to Production program will be back in late January, early February. He says recruitment for the program will probably be in November.
