The Town of Prescott is taking additional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All municipally-owned playground structures and play equipment are now closed indefinitely. The decision, announced today, will be reviewed on April 5.Â
The Town declared a state of emergency on Monday in response to the pandemic.Â
The news release states that ‘the safety and well-being of the Town of Prescott community members remains our top priority.’
Signage will be installed at each playground structure to indicate the closure.Â
The Town says residents are encouraged to get exercise and outdoors where possible, while still respecting physical distancing practices.Â
The COVID-19 virus can survive outdoors in the current weather conditions. The Town noted it will continue to engage and work alongside Leeds-Grenville-Lanark Public Health Unit officials to take appropriate measures as necessary.
