Miscalculation means tax adjustment for Prescott residents

Residential property owners in Prescott will see an additional charge on their interim tax bills. The Town of Prescott held a special meeting on Monday to address a miscalculation.

According to a press release sent out by the Town, the provincial system used to generate the yearly tax rates did not calculate correctly when reconciling property tax revenue for 2019.

As a result, the tax levy increase was not included in the tax rates, which means all residential properties in Prescott were undercharged.

An adjustment will be included in the interim tax bills that will be sent out in February. The average town residence will see a charge of approximately $50.14.
