Food bank $25,000 short this year

The South Grenville Food Bank is putting out a call for help. The organization is short $25,000 to make this year’s budget.

Executive Director Bonnie Pidgeon Cougler says the food bank gets by on $150,000 annually. She noted the organization operates out of three locations, in Prescott, Spencerville and Cardinal. Pidgeon Cougler explained the food bank serves over 1,000 people each year and the need continues to grow.

She says it’s very crucial that the organization makes its budget to avoid hard decisions.

The food bank was established in 2002 and has never failed to make budget, according to Pidgeon Cougler.

She noted the community is very generous and giving. Pidgeon Cougler says the whole South Grenville area is tremendous to the food bank. She explained donors are the reason the food bank is able to stay open.

To donate to the food bank, drop by in person or mail a cheque to 136 Henry Street in Prescott. You can also donate online by clicking here

Pidgeon Cougler noted that January is the busiest time of the year for the food bank.
