Giant Tiger set to close deal on 550,000 sqft Johnstown facility

Edwardsburgh/Cardinal Mayor Pat Sayeau announced this week that Giant Tiger has waived final conditions on the deal for its new distribution centre. The closing date is March 23rd. The Township has pre-authorized the clearing of 65 acres of land in preparation for construction.

Sayeau says the new centre will host about 240 employees. Many of them will transfer from jobs with Giant Tiger in Ottawa and may commute, but some are already looking around the community with the thought of moving to the area. There may also be some jobs available for local people. Giant Tiger expects to make its first shipment from the new location by January 1st, 2018.
