Over $26,000 raised for BGH maternal care

The Golfing for Maternal Care Tournament was another success.

This year’s events brought in $26,431.76 total. Locals Carole and Tom Hare organized the event once again. Carole says money was raised through a West Jet/Barbados Tourism raffle, An Evening Affair for Maternal Care event in June at the Keystorm Pub and the tournament itself on August 10th.

The money is going towards a phototherapy light and a LED phototherapy system that treats newborn jaundice at the Brockville General Hospital.

The tournament was a sold out event with 148 golfers and 178 people attending the dinner. Tom says the Owner of Keystorm Pub, Dan Thompson, has already offered the venue for another event next year.

Carole says they would like to thank all of the sponsors, golfers and everyone who has supported the tournament. She says this is by far the best tournament in six years.

The date for next year’s golf tournament has been confirmed for August eighth at the Prescott Golf Club again. Tom says anyone who is considering taking part in the tournament should get there name in as soon as possible as the event was sold out in advance this year.
