Big Brothers Big Sisters closes Kemptville office

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of Leeds and Grenville shut down its satellite office in Kemptville. The office was located at the North Grenville Municipal Centre for the past eight years. Services will continue being run out of its Brockville office, on George Street.

Executive Director Jane Fullarton says there will be no impact to services. She says what BBBS found is that most of its work is run out of schools and the office space was too small for activities, so the organization was renting space.

Fullarton says it makes more sense to have staff under one roof and closing the office comes with cost savings.

BBBS offers a variety of services for youth between the ages of 6 and 18, including the traditional match program, skills mentoring and monthly activities.

Fullarton says new in Brockville this year is a drop-in program, through a partnership with the library, every Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00pm. She says staff make meals with the kids and run activities.

BBBS provided services for 1,813 youth across the county last year. For more information, click here or call 613-345-0281.
