Measles case confirmed in Ottawa

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is looking into one confirmed case of the measles. The individual may not have received all their measles vaccines, according to OPH.

The organization is working closely with local health care providers and hospitals to get in touch with people who may have been exposed. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory disease.

Symptoms include a high fever, runny nose, cough, drowsiness and tiny white spots in the mouth. A red blotchy rash will appear on the face within three to seven days.

The following is a list of dates and locations where people may have been exposed to measles.  

  • March 26, 2019, 10:00am – 6:00pm: 40 Hines Rd – lobby, elevator or ground floor
  • March 27, 2019, 10:00am – 3:30pm: 40 Hines Rd – lobby, elevator or ground floor
  • March 27, 2019, 5:30pm – 9:00pm: Real Canadian Superstore, 760 Eagleson Rd
  • March 28, 2019, 5:30pm – 9:00pm: Ottawa West Travel Clinic, 760 Eagleson Rd 2nd floor
  • March 30, 2019, 1:00pm – 5:45pm: Queensway Carleton Hospital Emergency Department
  • April 2, 2019, 9:00am – 12 noon: Queensway Carleton Hospital Ambulatory Care

People who were present at the above locations within the given time frame are being asked to check their immunization records.
