Maple View Lodge getting 132 new long-term care beds

A major expansion was announced for Maple View Lodge in Athens. The facility will see 132 new long-term care beds and the redevelopment of its existing 60 beds.

The announcement was made by Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark on Saturday.

He says increasing the number of long-term care beds available for seniors is one of the top health-care concerns for residents in the riding. Clark highlighted that the expansion also ensures more seniors from rural areas will be able to find care closer to home.

The expansion is one of 16 projects across the province that will add 1,157 new long-term care beds. The government’s plan is to add 15,000 more beds over the next five years.

Clark says the government is working to ease pressure on hospitals and enable nurses, doctors and other industry professionals to provide better, faster health care for people in Ontario.
