Town of Prescott looking for input on updated sign bylaw

The Town of Prescott will be releasing an updated sign bylaw and wants your input.

Manager of Building and By-Law Services Shawn Merriman says it really needed an update as it hasn’t been updated in over 30 years. One upgrade includes almost thirty signs now defined instead of nine from the previous bylaw. Merriman adds if you needed a permit before, you probably still need a permit today and if you didn’t need a permit before you won’t need one now.

Merriman says the bylaw includes guidance of how signs should be placed and removed so they are safe and not cluttered around Prescott. He adds they’ve also added a “quick chart” to this bylaw. The chart will tell someone quickly if they need a permit or not and if they do, what page they can find more info about their sign.

Merriman says the updated bylaw will be posted on the Town’s website today. Anyone with feedback about the bylaw can contact Merriman by emailing him at [email protected].
