Prescott Council Approves a New Business of the Year Award

The Town of Prescott Council approved adding a new award this year.

It was a unanimous decision to add a Business of the Year award with the Volunteer and Citizen of the Year awards. Mayor Brett Todd says the new award idea was brought up a few years ago but they thought it might intrude too much with what the Chamber was doing. Now though, he says he thinks there’s room now for the town’s own award.

“We’ve got a lot of great businesses in town, it’s a great business community and we want to be able to reward them and award them.”

The town is currently working on the nomination package for this new award and so nominations for all three awards will begin in February. Mayor Todd adds the awards night takes place in the spring.

Last year’s winner of the Citizen of the Year award was former Mayor and Councillor of Prescott, Robert Lawn. The recipient of the 2018 Volunteer of the Year award was Paul McAuley, who has volunteered for over 25 years in the town.
