The Leeds County OPP conducted over 170 RIDE checks in the area.

The campaign ran from November 23rd, 2018 to January first, 2019. Police say three drivers were charged with alcohol impaired driving. OPP officers also charged two drivers with drug impaired driving. Officers also conducted four Standardized Field Sobriety Tests tests and one Drug Recognition Evaluator test.

Staff Sergeant Josh Kingsley says these numbers are unacceptable.

“Our annual Festive RIDE may be complete for this year but Leeds OPP officers will continue to focus on those who have decided to endanger others on our highways.”

The OPP thanks everyone who made the right choice to not get behind the wheel after drinking.
