Golden Gears Annual Car Show Is Back This Weekend

The seventh annual edition of the Golden Gears Car Club car show is back this Sunday, August 26th.

It will be at the Iroquois Locks Park from 10 am to three pm. There is no charge to tour the cars and enjoy the live music from Eddy and the Stingrays, but the car club will be accepting donations. Jim Millard is the Secretary of Golden Gears and says donations and the proceeds from the 50/50 draw will be going to a variety of organizations, including the Food For All Food Bank.

“We traditionally support the food bank here and often the one in Cardinal (and) Prescott because we have a lot of members from that area too. We’re certainly not just an Iroquois car club. Our members come from Mallorytown and west down to Ingleside and the east.”

Millard says the cars will be mainly from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s with a few older ones in the mix. He adds a lot of the owners have personal connections to the vehicles.

“Mainly the cars that the people who grew up with them own them. Dad had a ’55 Ford, you want to buy a ’55 Ford and restore it and kind of relive your youth.”

Millard notes, attendees should bring their own lawn chair as there is no seating but there will be tents set up. They are hoping around 400 cars will show up.

The registration fee is $10 to enter a car for judging. Car judging starts at noon and the live music will be from 12 pm to 2:30 pm. There will also be a food truck on site.
