Over 100 Speeding Charges During the Canada Day Long Weekend

The OPP were on the lookout for speeding and aggressive drivers during the long weekend.

OPP say 121 charges for speeding were issued from the Leeds Detachment during the Aggressive Driving Campaign. The campaign ran from June 29th to July 2nd in Leeds County. 4 Stunt Driving charges, 14 Seatbelt charges, 22 Hazardous Moving Violation charges and 30 Other Highway Traffic Act charges were also issued. They also laid 8 Liquor License Act charges, 3 Insurance Act charges and 5 Marine related charges.

The OPP add they responded to 15 motor vehicle collisions, 42 traffic complaints and 266 calls for service in total. Officers also conducted 7 R.I.D.E Programs.

The OPP thanks the public for their patience during the initiative.
