Mayor Brett Todd updates public on meeting with OPP regarding traffic “issues”

Mayor Brett Todd is addressing the ongoing issues related to Highway 401 and the recent crashes.

Todd posted on Facebook that he had a meeting with the Prescott OPP regarding the issues yesterday. He says they reviewed the current situation with construction, signage, and what’s needed from the Ministry of Transportation.

Todd says Downtown Prescott has been designated as a Focused Patrol Zone for extra traffic enforcement by the OPP.

He says that it will be a difficult summer, however. That’s due to the ongoing construction on the highway and the traffic volumes coming through the area.

Todd says the town and the OPP will continue to work together on an ongoing basis to do what they can to mitigate the issues, keep speeds down in Prescott and keep everyone safe.
