Law enforcement officers hitting the street in support of Special Olympics

The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run coming to the region. The torch run is the largest source of revenue for the Special Olympics, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.   

OPP officers, Ottawa Police Service, Provincial Corrections, RCMP and other law enforcement partners, along with local Special Olympians will be running and walking through communities raising funds and awareness.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run kicks off in Ottawa on Monday. Pembroke, Barry’s Bay and Petawawa will host runs on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run moves into Renfrew and Arnprior, followed by Perth, Carleton Place and Merrickville on Thursday.

The local run will be held at Merrickville Public School starting at 1:30pm. Runners will have their collection buckets ready for those who wish to make a donation. For more information visit torchrunontario.com.
