Prescott Committee of the Whole are Suggesting Council Make a Donation to BGH’s Re-Development

Prescott Committee of the Whole are suggesting the town give a donation to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation’s Phase II development project.

At this week’s meeting the committee voted in favour of giving the foundation $30,000 and suggested the next term of council revisit the topic in 2019. In early February foundation representatives asked the town for $935,000.

All of the councilors voted in favour of the donation except for Jansman, who said she believes the province is making the wrong decision by only supporting the project 90 per cent. She added that she does appreciate the benefits on economic development the region will have.

Mayor Brett Todd is glad they could contribute.

He added that for him it’s another step toward integrating the river community. The province provides funding for 90 per cent of projects but does not fund furniture or equipment above $5,000. Those costs for Phase II are projected at around $2,000,000.
