CECCE discusses plans for new school at Kemptville College

The announcement that a new French Catholic school will operate out of Kemptville College caught a few people by surprise. The board already has a sign designating land for a new school at the corner of Somerville Road and Highway 43. Director of Education Rejean Sirois says building a new school is still an option.

Sirois says when considering funding a new school, the Ministry of Education looks at partnerships between school boards and municipalities. The Municipality of North Grenville is currently working on a business feasibility study in their bid for ownership of the campus.

For the next few years, the The Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) will lease the W.B. George Centre with its gymnasium, the Fraser Building with its classrooms and theatre, along with Purvis Hall for a library and daycare space.
