EQAO Test Cancellation Result Of Global Online Attack

The Education Quality and Accountability Office says it was an “intentional, malicious, and sustained” cyber attack that forced the cancellation of last week’s EQAO testing for Grade 10 students, reports The Canadian Press. The agency hired to administer the tests say they were forced to cancel after realizing they were being targeted with an “extremely large amount of traffic” from all around the world. The EQAO say the purpose of the attack was to prevent students and school boards from logging into the test. Almost 900 schools in Ontario had signed up to take the test online. An investigation is underway and the EQAO are confident they will be able to administer the tests online in the future.
