The traditions continue at 52nd annual Leo Boivin tournament

It’s an event that’s circled on the calendar ahead of hockey season and it’s taking place this weekend.

The 2026 Leo Boivin U18 AAA Showcase Tournament starts Thursday at the Alaine Chartrand Community Centre in Prescott with 12 teams, both local and some from as far away as Prince Edward Island.

This is the 52nd year for the event, named after former National Hockey League player and Prescott native Leo Boivin.

Chairperson Vicki Sargeant tells Moose FM it’s a unique experience for visiting teams.

“I think it’s just good hockey. They come and they enjoy but then, on the flip side of the hockey, there’s some traditions that happen at this tournament that don’t happen at other tournaments.”

One of those traditions is the opening ceremony Thursday evening.

You can find a full schedule of games, as well as other information, on the event’s website.
