Kemptville 73’s come together to remember Johnny “Guy” Turmelle

A long-time volunteer with the Kemptville 73’s Hockey Club continues to be remembered.

The 73’s hosted the Navan Grads at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Family Day and beforehand they took time to remember Johnny “Guy” Turmelle, a volunteer with the organization for over fifty years who passed away earlier this month.

73’s General Manager Terry Nichols says alumni from over the years came to the game to honour Johnny and fans packed the arena to be a part of it.

He tells Moose FM that Johnny’s heart was always with the team.

“If we won he was in a great mood and if we lost sometimes he’d quit but we always knew he’d be back next day in the room helping get ready for the next game.”

Through his presence, North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says Turmelle reminded us that community is built through simple acts, showing up, having fun, lending a hand, and making new friends every day.

Kemptville won the game 7-3 over Navan.
