It’s an important reminder to make sure your vehicle’s insurance is up-to-date.
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP say one of their officers stopped a driver recently.
They say the driver indicated that he had just purchased the car that same day and did not have insurance.
After investigation it was determined that the car was purchased more than two weeks earlier.
The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance, which could be a $5,000 fine if convicted and use of an unauthorized plate.
The licence plates were seized, and the vehicle towed.
