Fewer travelers continue to make the trip into New York State from eastern Ontario

There continues to be fewer travellers making the trip into New York State from eastern Ontario.

Data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection shows there were 24,000 trips across the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge in August, down from 34,300 trips during the same month in 2024.

Overall, there were 37,000 fewer trips across the border from eastern Ontario during the month.

It marks the seventh straight month that numbers have declined from 2024 to 2025.

It began as the trade war, and tariffs imposed by the U.S. on Canadian goods, started.
