MPP Clark says team approach needed amid ongoing tariff war

Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says we need to be united against the tariff war brought about by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Amid ongoing tensions, and both countries announcing tariffs against each other, Clark says everyone, no matter their political stance, have to work together to build the most competitive and resilient economy in the the world.

He says Ontario Premier Doug Ford and the rest of the Progressive Conservative Party are attracting investment, creating jobs and protecting families through measures including expanding the eligibility to the Protect Ontario Financing Program which provides up to $1 billion in liquidity support in the form of loans to businesses facing tariff-related challenges.

Clark tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that many are hoping the two countries can eventually come together on a deal but whether or not that can be accomplished with President Trump remains to be seen.

“I can’t predict the most unpredictable leader in the free world. He’s just such a wildcard that I couldn’t even start to guess what Trump’s going to say, or tweet, or do.”

Clark adds that it’s vital that we all have the same message and not allow the U.S. to bully us.
