October has been declared Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Prescott.
At their regular meeting on Monday night, Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar made the declaration which was supported by council.
The declaration reads that breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women in Canada and affects individuals, families, and communities across the country.
It adds that the Town of Prescott recognizes the importance of raising awareness, supporting breast cancer research and patient services, and encouraging residents to learn about breast health and appropriate screening.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month takes place every October as an international health campaign to promote early detection, education, and research.
