Impaired driver stopped at R.I.D.E.

Officers from the OPP’s Leeds detachment are continuing to investigate an impaired driver they stopped at a R.I.D.E. check.

At around 11:30pm on June 2nd police say they were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check at the intersection of County Road 29 and Country Road 30, in Elizabethtown-Kitley Township. According to police they arrested a lone, male driver and charged him with impaired driving after an investigation.

Police say the 60-year-old man from Athens Township was released and is scheduled to appear in Brockville’s Ontario Court of Justice on July 14th.

The Leeds OPP added that while R.I.D.E. stops do increase over the holidays they are carried on throughout the year, and across the province, as part of the OPP’s Provincial Traffic Safety Program.
