Local community policing is getting a funding boost of over $940,000 from the province.
Part of the funding, $363,218, will go to expanding the Connect Youth Core Program to North Grenville District High School.
It’s a drop-in program for youth ages 12-25 in the Leeds and Grenville area that provides a safe space with social and recreational activities, life skills education, and access to basic needs like food and clothing.
Over $28,000 will also go enhancing Mobile Crisis Response Team training and support for Connect Youth Core Program.
Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says the Grenville County projects were the result of an application that was led by the Town of Prescott.
He adds all of them involve several community partners working closely with police.
