The Ottawa Senators are looking to build on making the National Hockey League playoffs for the first time since 1996-97 as they enter a new season.
While Ottawa dropped last spring’s best-of-seven game first round playoff series 4-2 to the rival Toronto Maple Leafs, they will be hoping to use the confidence that came from making the postseason on a team that remains largely the same.
Ottawa will open up the 2026-26 regular season Thursday night in Tampa Bay before moving on to face the defending Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers on Saturday evening.
Brent Wallace covers the team on the Coming In Hot podcast and he tells Moose FM just where the Senators will end up depends on if they can stay healthy.
“I think they can be second or they could be a fifth place, like a wild card team. They need to get off to a really good start and see if they can build off the end of last season.”
Ottawa plays its home opener on Monday when the Nashville Predators visit.
