OPP: More than 100 impaired driving charges issued during East Region Festive RIDE campaign

Across eastern Ontario, provincial police arrested dozens of people for impaired driving over the holidays.

OPP officers say 134 people were arrested and charged with impaired driving in the East Region during the Festive RIDE campaign.

Police also say another 37 motorists had their licenses immediately suspended after “registering in the warning range” during a roadside screening.

“Impaired drivers are a danger to everyone on the roads, including themselves, their passengers, other drivers and even pedestrians,” East Region Traffic and Marine Manager Walid Kandar says.

If you see someone you suspect is driving impaired, officers say you should call 911 and report it to the police immediately.
