North Grenville Mayor Nancy Peckford says the expansion and redevelopment of County Road 43, as well as a composting program created for the municipality, are among the highlights for the outgoing council.
Council held their last meeting earlier this week and took time to look back on the past four years, with Peckford saying they worked hard to provide a high quality of life for residents while keeping taxes relatively low.
Peckford was acclaimed in the October election when no one opposed her and she will head a council that returns Deputy Mayor John Barclay and councillor Deb Wilson as well as newcomers Tanya Deans and Robert Leach.
She tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that they are in the midst of creating a training program to get everyone up to speed.
“We’re putting together a program that includes some very local training that is specific to North Grenville but also, at the same time, avails of the broader training and orientation programs.”
The new council will hold its inauguration on Nov. 16.
